Hispano Comanche Dancers (Strictly New Mexico)

New Mexico has so many stories to tell. This video is about the Comanche Dance tradition. Found throughout the Pueblos as well as Hispanic communities, the Comanche Dance honors the greatness of the Comanche people and the peace that was finally negotiated between the Comanche and village residents, both Pueblo Indian and Spanish Colonial. I am a Coyote (mixed blood) and I take great pride in these traditions! RR

Maria Martinez: Notable New Mexican

Maria is my hero. She didn't waste her time feeling sorry for herself or trying to get the white man to feel sorry for her and her people. She created objects of great beauty in order to show the world that bringing beauty into the world was a higher calling. The world saw and was amazed. The Pueblo of San Ildefonso loves her still and respects her and her way by continuing to bring beauty into the world. RR
